Professional Services

What we did

We delivered a new Operating Model, senior team organization design and a capability development approach to deliver on the transformation strategy. It led to a fundamental restructuring with new Chief Development Officer, Chief Asset Manager and Chief Operating Officer with right capabilities in place to deliver on strategy. The asset portfolio was changed with strategic disposals and acquisitions. There was a reduction of 15% in operating costs achieved and increase in revenues versus costs.

What they said

”Paul brought together insightful analysis with strategic thinking to recentre our operations around our core mission (asset management).”
HR Director

Defence

What we did

This Defence Organisation lacked the necessary safety culture, clarity in roles, and competent professionals. To address this, a benchmarking study was conducted, a new safety framework was designed, competence assessments were introduced, and immersive training was delivered to 5,000+ staff. This resulted in improved safety culture, an aligned safety organization, and the assessment of over 200 safety professionals.

What they said

”This approach has given our people the safety tools and governance to deliver the safe equipment to the women and men on the frontline.”
Sir Simon Bollom, former CEO of Defence Equipment and Support

Healthcare

What we did

A Healthcare Organisation, owning clinics and hospitals across Europe, needed clarity on its growth strategy and organization. We provided a strategic growth narrative, an operating model, and a transition plan. As a result, the new Managing Director secured multi-million euro funding, and is establishing the new organisation to deliver the growth strategy.

What they said

”Without Paul’s support, we would not have the clarity of strategic messaging and the operating model to deliver our growth strategy.”
Simon Betty, Head of Europe, Northwest Healthcare REIT

AWE

Client Challenge

AWE employs leading Scientific, Engineering, Operations and Project Management Talent to secure the UK’s nuclear security.

Major programmes of work will see the organisation’s workforce grow from 7,000 to over 10,000 in 3 years, including a significantly increased intake of apprentice and graduate talent.

However, the existing learning facilities and approach are out of date, too limited and have a slow “time to competence”.

What we did

We collated data and insight around the workforce requirements for the next decade by skill group against the business plan and major programmes.

We looked at leading industry approaches to workforce development from major employers like BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce and GCHQ to envision a through life learning approach and the facilities to deliver this.

We interviewed over 50+ stakeholders, ran workshops, modelled the future requirement for an AWE Academy and developed a high-level business case.

Outcome

Business Case, Through Life Learning Approach and Facility Requirement endorsed by Executive and all main stakeholders.

Initiated detailed planning and location search to build new facility.

What they said

”Living Work Consulting galvanised our internal leaders around a strategic concept for Through Life Learning and the facilities to deliver this, providing a future approach and business case within a tight 12-week timeline”
Nicola Adamson, Head of People and Capability, AWE
